Wooducks - a digital watercolour painting in progress

Wooducks Painting in Progress.

This is based on a wonderful photo taken by my photographer friend on Red Bubble Ray Fortner. I have been enjoying getting back to my painting and am rediscovering old techniques and working on nailing down a few new ones to share with you. Duck two on the right was painted earlier this morning with digital watercolour brushes because they give me the cleanest lines and colours. I don't want a lot of wetness and blurriness in the birds. The other one was painted yesterday and has gone through several wet and apply surface texture
applications.
The weeds and the water need more work, but I think the basics are there. I can picture how I want it to look, but whether I can pull it off or not is a different story!

Am very intrigued by the colours of these ducks and think mother nature is so astute in making the males have the more colourful plummage! Makes me want to find out more about duck behaviour.

 HAPPY PAINTING!
