My Digital Painting Tools- Wacom Table, Intuos Pen and Corel Painter

I use a Wacom Tablet, an Intuos pen, and the  computer software program Corel Painter 9.5.

Here are some photos of them from the Wacom official website .wacomintuos3wacom-and-pen-photo-from-official-wacom-site

People who have seen me painting, find it so strange that I am looking up at the screen as I'm drawing or painting, rather than down at the tablet and the pen. I remember when I first got the Wacom that I found it weird because your natural inclination is to look at the pen.  I still find it awkward when I am sketching sometimes. There is the new Cintiq tablet which allows you to use the pen right on the screen. I would love to have one, but they cost about $2,000.

Many (most) people I talk to about my art haven't a clue what I am doing (do I ?), and can't imagine how I can "paint" with my computer, so I am going to attempt to give some simple explanations with some simple illustrations to show some of the variables I can control to make a certain mark on the paper. It's difficult to see the differences in the grainy texture of the different papers here, but it gives you the idea that this is an option that will vary the way the mark looks on the paper. This is only a teensy part of the immense number of options available in this fascinating Computer Program Corel Painter. The demonstration below is done with Corel Painter 11, which I have a trial version of right now. I generally use Corel Painter 9.5.
