My Art Featured on Corel Painter Master John Derry's Blog Again!

A Great Start to the New Year...and some personal thoughts on goals...

I was really thrilled the other day to hear from Corel Painter Master John Derry again about my latest painting "Crooked Little Creek."
He said he had just seen it, (I must ask him if he was alerted by Twitter to it?) and was 'blown away.' (I assume in a good way, or he wouldn't be asking if he could showcase it on his blog as an example of work done with his watercolour brushes.)
Here is a link to his blog  John Derry's Blog Pixlart
It was a great way to start off the New Year, and I'm taking it as a good omen! I'm really looking forward to painting more with John's brushes and developing my own. Right now, Corel crashes if I open the Brush Creator...not good! I welcome advice from anybody who has had this happen to them, and can suggest a way to fix it - without having to do a 'restore program to default settings!'

Most of my personal goals this year (better than resolutions, which are made to be broken as far as I'm concerned!) involve ways and means of managing my time and energy to get more time to paint and learn. That means breaking down chores (including helping with the family business) to more manageable-sized chunks, doing things more efficiently, and above all staying focused on what my overall goals are.

One of the biggest things I taught (I know I'm taking all the credit here! lol!) my two children was the basic goal solving technique of breaking down tasks into achievable goals, making an action plan to achieve them, actually working on the plan, evaluating the results of your actions, and revising your plan to move things forward some more. That it is a continous process, and yes, unfortunately you may take a step or two backwards now and then, or not move forward too fast. That you have to be honest with yourself about the goals, the plans, the actions and your results.

It's certainly not a process that I have perfected, nor have my grown children (both will be 26 years old in mid March until mid May...remind me to explain that to you someday if you care to know ...they are both my natural children. lol!) I do, however, see positive signs that they have learned this process and practice it successfully in their own lives. I'm very proud of them! :) I hope I can continue to make new goals, meet them, and make new ones!!
I hope you can too! That is my Happy New Year wish for everyone!

Happy New Year!
Joan
