My Art Blog
It's Hard to Paint and Blog at the Same TimeIt's Hard to Paint and Blog at the Same Time: · It feels a bit like when somebody is standing over you watching you type, and you keep making dumb mistakes. Despite the fact that I have invited you to look over my shoulder, it still feels different than just painting. · I feel sort of obliged to stick to plans and things that I have outlined even though I might have scrapped the painting at a much earlier stage. · I find myself trying to stick to easily described techniques and minimal steps because it’s so much work to capture the screen, make notes on diagrams and write it all out. · You have to think of too many things at the same time….lol! · I am still learning so much all the time, but I need lots of freedom to try new brushes and new techniques without having to worry about what it will look like in a tutorial, and whether it is possible to explain the steps taken. Joan: You are so correct. It is way too hard to do both, and yet we love posting and love painting. I then think back to the days before the internet, sitting in the studio, contemplating life. And there was nobody to discuss our thoughts with; no back and forth about ideas.
So now that I reflect on that loneliness, I am happy to have the opportunity that blogging gives us, even if it comes with pressure.
My thoughts...now I have to go and paint. I blogged most of the day away. :)
