A Digital watercolour painting tip to share with you

A Digital watercolour painting tip to share with you

I discovered this little tip some time ago accidentally while trying to use the Glow Brush to take some of the colour off a section of my painting. It added colour instead. The colour added appeared more transparent than just directly adding colour with an airbrush or any other kind of brush. Here are the steps to follow to make it work.
  1. Open a new layer, set the Composite Layer to Gel. Use a fairly saturated colour for the Glow brush, set the Random  brush control to 4.00 % Jitter, and the size to very tiny.
  2. Look in the oval area where I have painted a little with the Glow Brush. Just using the colour (use the Colour Picker Tool ) under where you want to darken things and add a little more grainy texture.
  3. I found it very helpful to give some areas a little more definition back after having reduced the Dye Concentration before printing.
  4. You can also blend these strokes in if you don't want them that grainy. It takes some experimentation and every painting will be different.
